Green Building
Green building requires addressing a range of topics including location and transportation, landscaping, stormwater management, energy efficiency, renewable energy, low impact materials, indoor air quality improvements, and education of owners, tenants, and building managers. We base our work on two of the most respected green building rating systems available: Enterprise Green Communities (EGC) and LEED Residential.

Enterprise Green Communities
Enterprise Green Communities (EGC) is a national program focused on creating affordable homes that are healthy, efficient, and climate resilient. It provides a clear framework for sustainable building practices in affordable housing. This program aims to demonstrate the health, economic, and environmental benefits of affordable housing developed under its criteria, promoting a sustainable future for communities.
Projects begin with a Green Charrette and drafting a checklist to show how the project will meet the mandatory requirements as well as the minimum credits required for certification. Later in design, we complete a Pre-Build application for preliminary approval, and then at the completion of construction we complete a Post-Build application to document the green building measures achieved.

LEED Residential

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification program designed to promote more sustainable construction and homes that are more efficient, healthier, safer, more comfortable, and have better indoor air quality. It is a consensus-developed, third-party-verified rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance buildings.
Our services can include "LEED Certifiable" consulting to meet zoning requirements that specify this, as well as full LEED certification services including verification by a Green Rater. For LEED Certifiable projects we provide Preliminary and Final Green Building Reports documenting the credits achieved as well as collect and track documentation. For fully certified projects, we also complete a Green Rater Workbook and submit to GBCI for review and approval, perform site visits, and submit documentation for final certification of the project.
